Ask us a question
What does the treatment involve?

When small doses of anti-wrinkle treatments are injected into the skin, it effectively blocks the nerves that supply sweat glands. This prevents the glands from producing sweat. We’ll inject anti-wrinkle treatment into carefully selected areas to maximise effects after a comprehensive consultation to assess your needs.

How long does the treatment take?

The whole process takes around 30 minutes.

How long do the results last?

It can take around 4 weeks for sweating to reduce with results lasting for 4 to 12 months. The treatment can be repeated once the effects wear off.

Does it hurt?

There may be some minor discomfort during the procedure, but we’ll use topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) and ice packs to keep it to a minimum.

Are there any side effects?

You may experience minor swelling and redness but it will quickly subside.

Is it safe?

The treatment is tried and tested. Allergic reactions are very rare.

*Individual results may vary.

A significant reduction in sweating can be noticed within days of treatment, with results lasting between four and twelve months. Regular maintenance treatments will help to sustain the improvement and keep you feeling comfortable and confident long term.

Hyperhidrosis Aftercare Summary

Hyperhidrosis treatment at L’Atelier Aesthetics uses targeted wrinkle reduction injections to temporarily reduce the activity of overactive sweat glands. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive and highly effective, addressing excessive sweating in areas including the armpits, hands, feet and face. All treatments are performed by Dr Duncan Brennand at our 101 Harley Street clinic.

Hyperhidrosis Pre-Treatment Guidance

To prepare for your hyperhidrosis treatment in London:

  • Arrive with clean skin in the treatment area, free from deodorant, antiperspirant, lotions or creams
  • Eat before your appointment to ensure comfort during treatment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen where possible, unless prescribed by your doctor
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment to minimise the risk of bruising
  • Shave the underarm area at least 24 hours before treatment if the armpits are being treated, but avoid shaving immediately beforehand to reduce irritation
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area

During your visit:

  • Clinical photographs and consent will be completed if not already done
  • A member of the team will cleanse the treatment area thoroughly
  • Optional numbing cream or local anaesthetic may be applied for comfort prior to treatment
  • Treatment time is typically 15 to 45 minutes depending on the areas being treated

What to Expect Immediately After Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hyperhidrosis treatment is a well-tolerated procedure with minimal downtime for most patients.

You may experience:

  • Mild swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites
  • Small raised bumps at the treatment points, which settle within a few hours
  • Light bruising, which typically resolves within a few days
  • Temporary sensitivity in the treated area

These effects are entirely normal and are a sign that the treatment has been administered correctly. Most patients find the procedure comfortable and are able to leave the clinic and carry on with their day as normal.

Hyperhidrosis Post-Treatment Care

To support your recovery and ensure the best possible results, we recommend the following after your treatment:

  • Avoid applying deodorant, antiperspirant or any products to the treated area for at least 24 hours
  • Avoid touching or rubbing the injection sites for the first few hours following treatment
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause heavy sweating for 24 hours after treatment
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for 24 to 48 hours
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to reduce bruising and swelling
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the treated area where possible in the first 24 hours
  • Do not shave the underarm area for at least 24 hours following treatment if the armpits were treated

If you notice any unusual or increasing discomfort, swelling or changes beyond the first few days, please contact our Harley Street clinic.

When Will I See Results from Hyperhidrosis Treatment?

Hyperhidrosis treatment works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands.

  • A noticeable reduction in sweating is typically experienced within a few days of treatment
  • Full results develop over one to two weeks as the injections take full effect
  • Results last between four and twelve months depending on individual response and the area treated
  • Maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain the improvement and keep sweating under control long term

Your practitioner will advise on the most appropriate timing for follow-up treatments based on how long your results last.

Who Should Not Have Hyperhidrosis Treatment?

Hyperhidrosis treatment may not be suitable if you have:

  • Active skin infections, open wounds or compromised skin in the treatment area
  • A known allergy to botulinum toxin or any components of the product used
  • Certain neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

A full medical consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to confirm suitability and ensure the approach is tailored to your individual needs and the areas most affected.

When to Contact Us

Hyperhidrosis treatment is a safe and well-established procedure when performed by qualified medical professionals. However, please contact L’Atelier Aesthetics if you experience:

  • Significant or worsening swelling beyond 48 hours
  • Signs of infection such as increasing redness, heat or discharge at the injection sites
  • Any unexpected weakness or unusual symptoms following treatment
  • Concerns about the effectiveness of your results

Our Harley Street team is always here to support you following your treatment and to answer any questions during your recovery.
