Contour and define your features, improve facial volume and smooth deep set wrinkles with dermal fillers on Harley Street, Marylebone.
At L’Atelier Aesthetics on Harley Street, HA dermal fillers are delivered with precision, restraint and a clear focus on natural results. Led by Dr Duncan Brennand, one of London’s most highly regarded aesthetic practitioners, every treatment is tailored to enhance facial harmony rather than change it.
As a top-rated and highly reviewed clinic on Harley Street, we specialise in subtle, refined results using advanced hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers to restore volume, smooth lines and enhance facial definition.
Dermal filler does not have to create an obviously “filled” appearance.
Unnatural results are often associated with excessive volume, inappropriate placement or treatment that does not respect the patient’s existing facial proportions.
Used carefully, filler can instead replace volume that has been lost, soften transitions between facial areas and improve balance without dramatically changing the way somebody looks.
For Dr Brennand, this distinction is fundamental to treatment at L’Atelier Aesthetics. Appropriate product selection, placement and volume matter just as much as the filler itself.

Dermal filler is a broad term for injectable treatments used to restore volume, soften lines and reshape or rebalance facial features. At L’Atelier Aesthetics, the majority of the dermal fillers we use are based on hyaluronic acid (HA).
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally within the body and forms part of the extracellular matrix surrounding structures such as collagen. One of its important roles within the skin is helping to maintain hydration.
As Dr Duncan Brennand explains:
“Hyaluronic acid is something that we have in our bodies anyway. It forms part of the extracellular matrix and is one of the things that gives your skin hydration.”
By carefully placing HA filler at different depths and in different areas of the face, we can use it for considerably more than simply “adding volume”. Depending on the patient’s anatomy and treatment goals, dermal filler may be used to:
The aim is not to make every patient look fuller. For some patients, particularly where facial volume has reduced with age, treatment is about restoration and rejuvenation rather than augmentation.
Natural hyaluronic acid is continuously produced and broken down by the body. If unmodified HA were injected, it would therefore be broken down relatively quickly.
HA dermal fillers are manufactured differently. The hyaluronic acid molecules are linked together through a process known as cross-linking, helping the material remain within the tissue for longer.
Once injected into carefully selected areas, HA filler can provide structural support, restore volume and alter the contours of the face. Hyaluronic acid also binds water, which can contribute to improved hydration and softness within the treated area.
Depending on the treatment plan, filler can therefore be used to address several different objectives, from smoothing a shadow or replacing lost cheek volume to improving lip shape or supporting the proportions of the lower face.
Results are generally visible immediately, although the treated area can continue to settle as any initial swelling reduces and the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue.
One of the most common questions patients ask is how long dermal fillers last.
There is no single answer because longevity depends on several factors, including the type of filler used, the area treated, the amount placed and the individual patient.
As Dr Brennand explains, cross-linking allows modern HA fillers to remain in the tissue considerably longer than naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. Some treatments may last around 12 to 18 months, although this varies between areas and patients.
Areas with greater movement, such as the lips, may behave differently from filler placed in areas where the product is being used primarily for structural support.
Your practitioner will discuss the expected longevity of the specific treatment during consultation rather than applying the same timeframe to every area of the face.

Dermal fillers are medical injectable treatments and, like any injectable procedure, are associated with risks. The product itself is only one part of safe treatment.
Dr Brennand places particular emphasis on the experience and judgement of the person carrying out the procedure:
“If you see someone who is technically very competent, sensible about the volumes and the places that it is going to be injected, then it can give some phenomenal results.”
Understanding facial anatomy, selecting an appropriate product, choosing the correct injection plane and knowing how much filler is appropriate are all important parts of treatment.
This is also why L’Atelier takes a conservative, doctor-led approach to dermal filler.
Dermal fillers are gels made from hyaluronic acid. They are expertly injected into selected treatment areas to replace lost volume, smooth lines and wrinkles and restore a more youthful look.

Any swelling or redness will subside soon after the treatment but until it does, avoid sun beds, saunas, steam rooms and extreme temperatures. There may be some minor bruising, but this will go down after a few days. It’s also important to not wear make-up for 12 hours after your treatment.
