Vein Clinic

YOUR PROFESSIONAL VEIN CLINIC

Marylebone, London

Within the heart of London’s prestigious medical district, our vein clinic uses evidence-based treatments to professionally treat both thread veins and varicose veins. With targeted treatments, our professionals can alleviate you of your problematic veins.

As an Interventional Radiologist, our own Dr Brennand is a specialist in diseases of the veins. Following a clinical assessment and inspection of your proposed treatment area, Dr Brennand will discuss with you your treatment options, the best aftercare, and begin planning your treatment journey.

Two clinically advanced treatments

Thread veins and varicose veins are very different in their appearance, development, and symptoms, so we provide a treatment dedicated to the removal of each. For thread veins, we use the trusted and effective microsclerotherapy to break down and dissolve the affected vein. For varicose veins, we use radio frequency ablation that provides surgical results without the discomfort or downtime.

Our vein clinic on Harley Street uses only non-surgical methods of vein removal and treatments to produce effective results comfortably and non-invasively. Held at our state-of-the-art London clinic or at The Princess Grace Hospital in Marylebone, you will find your treatment discreet and comfortable in London’s prestigious medical district.

VEIN CLINIC – PATIENT JOURNEY

Regardless of whether you will be receiving sclerotherapy for thread veins or radio frequency ablation for varicose veins, all of our treatment journeys at our Vein Clinic begin with a confidential consultation. It’s highly important to us that you receive the correct care and support for your vein removal treatment, so we will endeavour to understand your symptoms, medical history, and desired results to tailor your treatments to you.

Once your suitability is confirmed and you have received treatment, we will of course provide you with aftercare advice. Our care doesn’t end when you leave our Vein Clinic, and we even offer a hotline for any questions you may have after your treatment has been carried out. Follow-up appointments also form a key part of our patient journeys so that we can ensure your safety, satisfaction, and monitor your changes together.

Thread Veins - The Process

We use sclerotherapy, a leading and evidence-based treatment, for thread veins on the legs and lower body. Non-surgical and non-invasive, this treatment produces highly effective treatments for dissolving unsightly thread veins.

Varicose Veins - The Process

For varicose veins, we use the advanced non-surgical treatment, radio frequency ablation. This treatment is minimally invasive and produces results comparable to those achieved through surgery without ever breaking the skin.

SCLEROTHERAPY

STEP 1

At your initial consultation, we will discuss with you your skin’s health and perform a clinical assessment of your veins to ensure this is the best treatment option for you.

SCLEROTHERAPY

STEP 2

A medical solution is injected into the thread veins using a very fine needle. This causes the vein’s walls to swell and closed-off the vein, stopping blood flow.

SCLEROTHERAPY

STEP 3

The treated veins will then dissolve over a period of a few weeks as the body naturally breaks down and dissolves the now closed-off veins.

SCLEROTHERAPY

STEP 4

We will advise you on aftercare and arrange a follow-up appointment to assess the area, where we will possibly recommend further treatments for the best result.

Varicose Veins - The Process

For varicose veins, we use the advanced non-surgical treatment, radio frequency ablation. This treatment is minimally invasive and produces results comparable to those achieved through surgery without ever breaking the skin.

RADIO FREQUENCY ABLATION

STEP 1

Your consultation will consist of a clinical assessment of your varicose veins, including an ultrasound examination if this is necessary. This allows us to proceed with accuracy and safety.

RADIO FREQUENCY ABLATION

STEP 2

Your treatment area will be numbed with local anaesthetic once you are comfortable, and radio-frequency energy will be directed at varicose veins we are targeting.

RADIO FREQUENCY ABLATION

STEP 3

The heat caused by the radio frequency contracts the skin fibres in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal off. Blood flow is redirected to healthier veins.

RADIO FREQUENCY ABLATION

STEP 4

We will then advise on the best aftercare and schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your results as developing safely and arrange another treatment session if needed.

“The pain and itching of varicose veins was bad enough – but I think I hated the way they looked even more. I felt so self-conscious. The improvement since my treatment has been wonderful and I’d recommend it to anyone with the same problem.”

Your Questions Answered

    • How do I care for my legs after varicose vein treatment?

You’ll need to wear compression stockings for 2 weeks after the treatment to reduce any residual discomfort and bruising. However, there is much less pain and bruising than surgery, so you should be able to return to your normal day-to-day activities after just 48 hours.

    • How do I care for my legs after microsclerotherapy?

After thread vein treatment, you’ll be required to wear a compression stocking for 3 days following the procedure. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, very hot baths, and saunas for 72 hours after the treatment.

    • How long does varicose vein treatment take?

Each leg takes around 45 minutes, so if both legs are affected we would typically treat these in separate appointments.

    • How long does microsclerotherapy take?

Your appointment will typically last between 30 to 45 minutes, and you may need several treatments to achieve your optimum results.

    *Individual results may vary.

    • Is microsclerotherapy safe?

This treatment is a very safe procedure that is trusted and approved for thread vein removal. In some rarer cases, there’s a reaction to the injection resulting in slight bruising and ulcers, though these can be managed.

    • Will varicose vein treatment be covered by my medical insurance?

If you have private medical insurance, there is a chance that the procedure could be covered by it. If they are causing swelling, pain, heaviness, and itching, then we will help investigate your coverage with you.

    • Is radio-frequency ablation safe?

Radio-frequency ablation is an entirely safe treatment that has proven to be a very safe alternative to surgery. We will of course talk you through your suitability and risks during your consultation.

    • How long will my thread vein results last?

The effects are usually permanent, although we can’t prevent them forming again in other areas or even the same area at a later stage. It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for your results to develop and you may require more than one treatment.

    *Individual results may vary.
