Varicose Veins

Innovative, minimally-invasive treatment

Harley Street, London

Varicose veins are enlarged veins raised above the skin. They can be blue, red or flesh coloured and are often sore and tender. We understand that many clients with varicose veins worry about their unsightly appearance – which is why we’re committed to using groundbreaking yet proven treatments to resolve the problem.

Radio frequency ablation is the most precise and effective varicose-vein treatment available today. This advanced sclerosant technology is minimally invasive while delivering results that are as good as surgery. With less downtime and discomfort, you can get on with life far more quickly.

L’Atelier expertise and excellence

  • A team with years of experience in health and aesthetic treatments
  • Committed to evidence-based technologies while leading the way for new, cutting-edge treatments
  • The procedure is carried out at The Princess Grace Hospital in Marylebone, a private hospital renowned for excellence

Understanding the treatment

We’re committed to supporting you in making a fully informed decision. That’s why we take the time to go through everything in detail during your consultation. We can also carry out a Doppler ultrasound examination of your legs at this time if necessary.

The actual procedure is carried out at The Princess Grace Hospital in Marylebone under local anaesthetic using the latest ultrasound guidance system. The hospital’s radiology suite is world class and you can be sedated intravenously throughout the procedure if you’d prefer.

Far less invasive than surgery

There is no scarring and less bruising and pain than traditional surgery treatment. You’ll have a follow-up appointment 2 weeks after treatment as well as hotline advice if you need any further support.

Your Questions Answered

    • What does the treatment involve?

Radio-frequency energy is used to provide an even and uniform heat. This contracts collagen in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal. Once a leg vein is closed, blood flow is redirected to healthy veins.

    • How long does the treatment take?

It takes around 45 minutes for each leg. If both legs are affected, they would usually be treated separately.

    • I have private medical insurance. Could this procedure be covered by it?

If your varicose veins are symptomatic (meaning you’re experience symptoms such as swelling, pain, heaviness and itching), then it could be covered. We’ll help investigate this for you.

    • How do I care for my legs after treatment?

You’ll need to wear compression stockings for 2 weeks after the treatment. You’ll be given a hotline number to use if you have any questions or concerns, as well as a follow-up appointment.

    *Individual results may vary.

    • When will I be back on my feet?

As the procedure is so much less invasive than other treatments, there is less pain and bruising. Most people can get on with normal life after just 48 hours.

    • Is it safe?

Radio-frequency ablation treatment has proven to be a very safe alternative to surgery. We will talk through your suitability and any risks during your consultation.

    *Individual results may vary.

“The pain and itching of varicose veins was bad enough – but I think I hated the way they looked even more. I felt so self-conscious. The improvement since my treatment has been wonderful and I’d recommend it to anyone with the same problem.”Richard, Fulham
